Mission

Empowering black workers in the High Desert through advocacy, unity, education, and the pursuit of prosperity. Creating equitable opportunities, fostering community engagement, and promoting economic justice.

Vision

We envision a High Desert where racial and economic justice guide every hiring decision, job site, and labor policy. With the California State Department of Industrial Relations as our compass, we eliminate poverty by expanding equitable access to quality employment, strengthening job standards, and eradicating workplace discrimination.

Through wage enforcement, apprenticeship opportunities, occupational safety programs, and worker education—each championed by DIR—we empower communities with the tools to thrive.

Innovation and grassroots leadership drive our mission to ensure every worker achieves meaningful, sustained employment rooted in dignity, safety, and fairness.

Because when Black employment rises, opportunity rises for all. 🌄

Our Commitment

At the High Desert Black Worker Center (HDBWC), we are unapologetically committed to building a future where every family thrives. We champion mortgage-paying wages, high-quality benefits, and pathways to career advancement as the foundation for lasting financial stability. Through accessible education, hands-on skill-building, and holistic support services, we power inclusive economic growth rooted in equity and community resilience.

We stand with workers. We uplift families. We transform futures.
